The GDPR (in English, GDPR for General Data Protection Regulation) is the acronym for the new European regulation concerning the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, as well as the free movement of such data. This European regulation was published on May 4, 2016, and has been applicable and mandatory in all Member States of the European Union since May 25, 2018. The GDPR aims to put citizens back in control of their personal data while increasing their level of protection. This regulation applies to any company that collects and processes data relating to natural persons located within the territory of the EU.
